July and August are a perfect time to plan fall garden installations or to do some prep work for them. Fall is a great time to put in new gardens because new plants do not need to compete with weeds, there is usually plenty of rain and they have the winter to establish themselves with a larger root system before the heat of the following summer. Perennials, ornamental grasses and evergreens should be planted in September. Deciduous shrubs and trees should be planted after their leaves drop in the fall. Please contact us to make an appointment for Meg to come see your future garden site. Meg will also come to give you advice on existing plants or changes you may be thinking of making as a result of new construction or growth in existing plant material.
